Located on an 18-acre campus, Temple Emanu-El is home to a nationally recognized Early Childhood Education Center serving 300 students each weekday, as well as the Steinberg Center for Learning, which welcomes more than 650 religious school students weekly. POSITION SUMMARY
The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining and supporting Temple Emanu-El’s organization-wide applications and databases, including internal systems, third-party platforms, and the student information system. This role ensures smooth system operations, effective integrations, and reliable data management across the organization, while providing responsive, knowledgeable, and user-friendly support to staff and Temple members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the Primary Technical Resource: Support and maintain Temple’s databases and key applications, including Raiser’s Edge NXT, Financial Edge NXT, & FACTS SIS, and Cvent.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Work with key staff members who are solving daily technical issues, helping users, and keeping things running smoothly.
- Manage Data Processing: Import, export, and migrate data for large scale projects, ensuring the data is secure, organized, and accessible.
- Automate and Analyze: Lead process automation and data management while directing teams to use dashboards and reporting within systems.
- Train and Support Users: Teach users how to use the systems, recommend training for users, provide standard operating procedures, answer questions, and provide friendly support.
- Maintain Current Systems: Monitor and implement updates for Blackbaud, FACTS, Google, Microsoft Products, and other core platforms.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure appropriate user access, permissions, and data security across all systems.
- Collaboration/Cross-Departmental Work: Collaborate with Finance, Development, Membership, Education, and the IT Director to align systems with departmental needs.
- Vendor/Contract Oversight: Interact with software/platform vendors.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Warm, friendly, and supportive office environment on Temple’s campus.
Occasional evening or weekend support may be required for major events.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Raiser’s Edge NXT: Advanced proficiency including configuration, security roles, data imports/exports, global changes, reporting structures such as memberships, campaigns, funds and appeals, and integrations across both web and database views.
- Financial Edge NXT: Understanding of fund accounting workflows, reporting, queries, and troubleshooting to support the Finance and Development teams.
- Database Management: Experience with Blackbaud products and other nonprofit/school databases with a willingness to continually learn emerging cloud-based tools.
- Project Management: Highly organized, detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while empowering staff to perform their own everyday data needs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Patient, approachable, service-oriented communicator who enjoys teaching and supporting others.
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of experience in a school or nonprofit setting.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with Power Automate for workflow automation and system integrations.
- Experience with Power BI for dashboards, data visualization, and reporting.
- Experience with Google Workspace administration and learning management systems such as FACTS or Google Classroom.
